I am an ICF certified team coach, and… ?
Wednesday, February 15th 2023
Since last year I am a certified ICF Team coach. I have been working as a team facilitator for the past 3 decades as a trainer, a consultant, a coach. I have a wide set of skills, certifications, and experience in the field of team development facilitation, and I am also a certified Erickson team coaching trainer.
When I was approached to be part of the pilot it didn’t take me long to decide and go for it. Together with an international group of Erickson team coach colleagues we accepted the challenge and went through the process. Rather challenging however also very enriching as we did a supervision process together and were able to share our knowhow and experience with each other. We had no idea what might be asked and demanded in the 3 hours exam we had to pass. The exam was at a high level and we were proud to have all passed and that we were part of the creation of this certification procedure. For me personally this collaboration was the greatest use and meaning in the whole process especially as in working on this together we walked the talk and acted as a high-performance team.
I remember my first team workshops in the 1990ies when the money for such a process was mainly invested into executive teams. I remember working with 20 top managers of an international oil company (yes indeed, they were all managers, not a single female manager) some years after the merger of the two entities. I was amazed how long it takes until 2 cultures grow together if nothing is done and it was a pleasure and gift to see how much progress a 2,5-day team process could do in that direction. I knew then and it still is state of the art that continuous dialogue is a key for effective collaboration. A lot has changed in techniques and circumstances, but the basics remain the same. In our high speed, performance, and relationship challenging times it is as important as ever to keep an eye on the psycho hygiene of all teams.
