Back in Uganda

After a 2-year break, I was back in Uganda and visited my friends from the local NGO GYCO (Global Youth Conference) www.gyco.eu. All the staff are Ugandans who work pro bono or for a small fee for GYCO and/ or other social organizations, even though they have little resources of their own.
It is so inspiring to see how much is happening on the ground, not just in the city but in the rural communities, as many people live too far away from the city and therefore cannot come to GYCO premises. We visited one such community and were not only warmly welcomed there, but in addition to a soccer match, a traditional bridal dance and a song, we were given a presentation by a young man exactly what GYCO has been doing with them locally, from mindshift training to detailed goal setting and business plan training.
We also went with another colleague from GYCO to an institution that works with street children and youth (there are thousands of them in Gulu and the surrounding area, between the ages of 4 and 15) and with young mothers and disabled people.
I have been supporting this project for 6 years with the clear aim of helping local young people to get on their own feet and realize their potential. In 2019-3/2020, 15 people completed the Erickson Coaching training with me and Erickson colleagues and now the plan is to spread this knowledge and know-how in the area.
If anyone would like to help, please donate to GYCO - we are an association in Austria and the donation is tax deductible:
